A former husband,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Christopher_Plummer\">Christopher Plummer<\/a>, and their daughter, actress&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amanda_Plummer\">Amanda Plummer<\/a>, are also Tony Award winners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She originated the role of Diana in the Broadway production of&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/California_Suite\">California Suite<\/a><\/em>. The role of Diana was played in the film by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maggie_Smith\">Maggie Smith<\/a>, who won an Oscar for her performance. Grimes played the role of Elmire in the 1978 Broadway and television production of&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tartuffe\">Tartuffe<\/a><\/em>. She originated roles in several works by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/No%C3%ABl_Coward\">No\u00ebl Coward<\/a>, including Elvira in&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/High_Spirits_(musical)\">High Spirits<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;and Lulu in&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Look_After_Lulu!\">Look After Lulu!<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;In 1966, she starred in her own television series,&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Tammy_Grimes_Show\">The Tammy Grimes Show<\/a><\/em>. Grimes was also known for her cabaret acts.
